The Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University, together with the Unhas Team and PT Industri Padi Nusantara (IPN), signed a cooperation agreement with two partners from China (Senyuanda Ecological Environmental Group Co. Ltd and Guangdong Institute of Modern Agricultural Equipment) to develop superior seed research to increase national agricultural productivity, Beijing, China (8/4).
Through this collaboration, rice varieties will be developed with a minimum productivity target of 12 tons per hectare per harvest. Initial development will take place on approximately 5,000 hectares of land in Musi Rawas Regency, South Sumatra, managed by IPN subsidiary PT Silampari Agro Nusantara.
Furthermore, the development of superior rice seeds is planned to be expanded to several other regions, including Lampung and Papua, to strengthen national food production. This collaboration also includes technological support and investment in modern agricultural equipment to support the production process from upstream to downstream.
Through synergy between industry, academia, and international partners, it is hoped that innovation in the agricultural sector can further develop and be able to promote sustainable food security in Indonesia.
