Eratani held a public lecture with the title, Eratani’s Journey in Revolutionizing Agriculture, discussing challenges and revolutions in agriculture. Taking place at Lecturer Theater (LT) 6 Faperta Unhas, the public lecture was attended by students from various study programs, such as Agribusiness, Agrotechnology, Soil Science and Plant Protection, Thursday (22/8). Representing the Dean of Faperta, Vice Dean III for Partnership, Research and Innovation, Dr. Ir. Mahyuddin. M.Sc expressed his appreciation for the presence of Eratani who initiated a guest lecture at Faperta Unhas. He revealed that the Unhas Faculty of Agriculture has a great desire to contribute to developing advanced and modern agriculture in the future. Apart from that, Dr Mahyuddin also expressed his hope that research lecturers and students could maximize research to support agricultural progress. According to him, many people underestimate the profession of farming, even though in fact businesses operating in the agricultural sector are extraordinary, particularly in combination with the application of technological intelligence. “We hope that our alumni can become the main support for strong agricultural human resources in running modern agriculture,” he said. Andrew Soeherman as Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) PT. Eratani shared his experience in developing PT. Eratani. He said that one of the reasons for the creation of the company was due to low yields and an aging farming population. “Indonesia is an agricultural country but still imports, not only because of high rice consumption, but the core problem is in productivity,” he explained. Successfully Holding the Grand Opening of Smart Farming Cultivation Land, PPK Ormawa Mahatani Unhas Proclaims a Real Form of Unlimited Total Devotion PPK Ormawa Mahatani Unhas held horticulture cultivation land based on the Drip Fertigation Gravity System (SIPRODIV) in Tamalanrea Indah Subdistrict. The activity was enlivened by the Head of the Unhas Student Achievement and Talent Development Sub-directorate, Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Faperta, Fisheries and Agriculture Service, Tamalanrea Indah Subdistrict Secretary, Assistant Lecturer, Unhas Achievement Working Group Team, and various other Community Figures, Wednesday (21/8) . This activity is a manifestation of the commitment of the Ormawa Mahatani Unhas PPK team in supporting community empowerment, especially in the agricultural sector. Through this program, the use of the SIPRODIV program can increase the capacity and welfare of the Tamalanrea Indah Village community. Welcoming 2024 New Students, Dean of Faperta: Unhas Faculty of Agriculture Ranks in Top 4 Nationally The Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University, welcomed 847 new students in the Faculty Level Introduction to New Student Campus Life (PKKMB) activity. Activities are centered on the 1st floor of the Faperta Hall and several other locations within the Faperta area which are connected via zoom meeting (13/8). The activity began with the submission of a report by Nur Mujahidin, S.P., M.Si as chairman of the 2024 PKKMB Faperta committee. He expressed his pride and welcomed the new students who officially became the part of big family of Faperta Unhas. Nur Mujahidin also explained the materials that would be explained in this activity. Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Salengke, M.Sc gave a speech and opened the event. In his speech, Prof. Salengke revealed that based on World University Ranking, The Unhas Faculty of Agriculture is ranked 301 to 350 in the world, which means it is in fourth position nationally. According to him, the new students are potential agricultural heroes and potential Indonesian food heroes. “This is thanks to the long struggle of previous leaders, lecturers, alumni and students and we will continue this together,” he said. However, there are still sad facts about world agriculture. More than 800 million people worldwide experience hunger every year with 44 countries experiencing serious hunger problems. Prof. Salengke further explained that currently Indonesia is on the yellow line, which means it is quite worrying. If this continues, it is possible that Indonesian agriculture will get worse and be on the red line. Prof Salengke hopes that with the large number of new generations of students at the Faculty of Agriculture, these concerns can be transformed into stable and abundant agriculture. “We hope that in 4 years, all students will be able to leave here with knowledge that you can dedicate to this country wherever you are in the future,” he explained. PPK Ormawa Mahatani Unhas Implements Gravity Drip Fertigation System Collaborate with KWT Keluarga The Capacity Strengthening Program (PPK) of Ormawa Mahatani Unhas succeeded in the first harvest of the Gravity Drip Fertigation Based Horticultural Production System (SIPRODIV) program. In collaboration with partners from Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Kerabat in Tamalanrea Indah Subdistrict, this activity is aimed at increasing the efficiency of water and nutrient use in plant cultivation, Tuesday (30/7). The PKK Ormawa UKM Mahatani Unhas Team introduced and accompanied KWT Kerabat in its implementation. They help from planning, system installation, to plant maintenance and will continue to monitor during the plant’s growth period. Muhammad Fachri Rama Dwi Astrada, as Chair of the Implementation Team, delivered an activity report to the participants. He explained about the Ormawa Mahatani Unhas PPK program, namely to provide community service through implementation of smart farming Gravity Drip Fertigation system. Ormawa Mahatani PPK Assistant Lecturer, Dr. Rahmansyah Dermawan, S.P., M.Si., explained that this program was the result of intensive collaboration between students, academics and the community and stated that, “The system implemented is not the most sophisticated. However, this program can at least be a first step for the Village Tamalanrea Indah to apply modern agricultural technology to support sustainable agricultural activities,” he explained. Dr. Ir. Mahyudin, M.Si, Vice Dean III of the Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University, in his speech emphasized the importance of innovation in modern agriculture. “SIPRODIV is a real example of how technology can be integrated into traditional agricultural practices to produce better results. Through this program it can be seen how serious Mahatani’s members are in bringing achievements and benefits, now Mahatani’s task is how to shape marketing so that the subsystem that is formed is complete from upstream to downstream,” he said. Meanwhile, Dr. Ir. Suhasman, S.Hut., M.Si, Head of the Unhas Student Achievement and Talent Development Sub-directorate, appreciated the students’ initiative in developing practical solutions to agricultural challenges. He said that PPK Ormawa is a program that aims to encourage students to learn to solve problems in villages through innovative ideas so that they can support village progress. The Tamalanrea Indah Subdistrict, represented by Village Secretary Asliah Kamal S.E, welcomed this program and saw it as a positive step in empowering local communities. “I still remember at the beginning when the Mahatani members were full of confidence and enthusiasm in consulting with the sub-district officer regarding the implementation of the program in Tamalanrea Indah sub-district, and now it has been proven and the results can be seen,” she said. The activity continued with the main event, namely the first harvest. Three types of vegetables were harvested in this first harvest. Pakcoy (25 HST/Day after Planting), Kale (22 HST), and Spinach (22 HST). These three vegetables show optimal growth and good quality, proving the effectiveness of the SIPRODIV system in increasing the productivity of horticultural crops. The activity took place starting at 09.00 WITA in the LPPM Building Hall, Hasanuddin University, Makassar, Thursday (25/7). Presentation of the symposium report by Dr. Ir. Asmita Ahmad, ST., M.Si as chairman of the committee. He expressed the hope that today’s symposium could become a good discussion forum for the participants who took part in the activity. The activity began with a welcoming speech by the Deputy Dean for Partnerships, Research and Innovation, Dr. Ir. Mahyuddin, M.Sc. He said that this activity was carried out as a form of accelerating the publication of manuscripts that were worthy of publication but still needed assistance. Mahyuddin said that.
