In the series of the 67th Anniversary of Unhas, the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia directly inspected and carried out launching a superior variety of Unhas Jago Corn (JJ UH). The activity was carried out on the land next to the Unhas GOR (9/9).
Prof. Dr. Ir. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Sc in his speech explained that Unhas has many qualified professors and students as well as various programs such as MBKM. He hopes that this potential will make Unhas not only join but also contribute support to the Ministry of Agriculture.
“To the Ministers, allow us to present this product. JJ UH has proven that Unhas has made history,” he said.
Minister of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. H. Syahrul Yasin Limpo, S.H., M.Sc., M.H said that releasing a variety is a long process. The process goes through SOPs which are also not easy, then there are field tests, clinical tests and theory tests so that what we have released today is something extraordinary.
“Jago Corn makes Unhas a champion, a champion of agriculture that makes the nation strong,” he said in his speech after officially launching JJ UH.
He hopes that JJ UH cultivation will not stop here. Apart from that, students can use JJ UH cultivation as a place to study and research, it can also be used as a source of funds for Unhas, as well as helping farmers.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Azrai as a research lecturer Jago Corn Unhas together with the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Salengke, M.Sc also revealed directly to the Minister of Agriculture that the superior variety abbreviated as JJ UH has gone through various resistance tests against various diseases. In addition, the development of seeds from this superior variety has been tested in several regions in Indonesia.
