The Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University, held a Yudisium and Gathering of Graduates for the May 2023 period. It took place on the 1st floor of the Unhas Faculty of Agriculture Hall, starting at 13.45 WITA until finished, Tuesday (16/5/2023).
Starting the activity, the reading of the minutes by Prof. Dr. Ir. Salengke, M.Sc as the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture. Furthermore, the reading of the names of the graduates by the Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. rer. nat. Zainal, STP., M.FoodTech as well as reading the names and awarding plaques to the best graduates by the Deputy Dean for Planning, Resources and Alumni, Dr. Ir. Rismaneswati, SP., MP.
In his remarks, Prof. Salengke told the graduates that they graduated because they had been recognized by the campus and had sufficient skills to navigate life outside there. He also appealed to the participants present to develop their potential in their respective hometowns for agricultural development.
“Alumni of the Faculty of Agriculture are like seeds that are planted here and will surely grow,” he continued.
Also present were the Chairperson of the Unhas Faculty of Agriculture Alumni Association (IKA Faperta), Dr. Ilham Arief Sirajuddin. In his opinion, there is no reason for agricultural graduates to be unemployed given South Sulawesi’s status as a national food buffer zone.
“All agricultural alumni can definitely get a job and can show it to the whole world,” he said.
He also added that alumni could return to their hometowns to build villages as the main option. According to him, it is better to go home to help farmers with the knowledge gained, there is no need to feel proud.
