Through a guest lecture which was held on Friday (28/10/2022) on the 1st floor of the Unhas Faculty of Agriculture Hall starting at 14.00 WITA until finished, Faperta Unhas presented expert speakers in their field.
On the same occasion, the Dean of Faperta Unhas, Prof. Ir. Salengke, M.Sc., Ph.D welcomed the presence of the speakers who were willing to share their insights regarding bacterial microorganisms in agriculture. He appealed to students to take advantage of this opportunity as well as possible.
“We will take advantage of this rare opportunity, hopefully it can inspire us all,” said Prof. Salengke.
Prof. Dr. Puspita Lisdiyanti M.Agr.Chem as part of the Research Center for Biosystematics and Evolution of BRIN discussed “Anti-bacterial Biodiversity in Indonesian Land” as the first resource person. He specifically discusses the diversity of microorganisms on earth, especially in the soil.
“The number of microorganisms is very large compared to the number of plants and animals that are used for human needs, even in 1 gram of soil there are 40 million microorganisms,” she said further.
She further explained that external devices that are inserted into the human body for medical purposes can become a home and place for microorganisms to grow.
The next sub-theme was explained by a Lecturer at the UGM Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Sylvia Utami Tunjung Pratiwi, M.Si as the second speaker, discussed “Biofilm and Its Role in Agriculture.” Sylvia said that bacteria are unique microorganisms and will continue to be studied.
“This biofilm can be said to be close to us, well, they are everywhere and can grow both in weak abiotic and biotic environments,” she added.
