In order to prepare students to face social, cultural, world of work, and rapid technological advances, the Faculty of Agriculture, University of Hasanuddin initiated the hold a Student Internship Program Workshop and Gathering of Partners which was held for two days. The activity took place from 9.30 WITA in the UNHAS Hotel & Convention Center Ballroom and was attended by 32 partners, Monday-Tuesday (17-18/10/2022).
The sub-themes raised in the workshop included “Internship in the MBKM Program,” “Opportunities and Challenges for Internship in Dudi,” “Kedaireka Cooperation,” and “Best Practice of Kedaireka Cooperation.” The selection of the sub-theme topics is intended to explore the potential for collaboration, research, and innovation development with partners.
In his remarks, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, Prof. Dr. Ir. Salengke, M.Sc revealed that this activity was a door that opened opportunities for students to learn to take part in the industrial business world. In particular, he would like to thank all partners who have agreed to attend and have or will collaborate with the Faculty of Agriculture.
“This cooperation is valid for five years, but of course we hope that after that period, it can be extended if necessary. Hopefully after this activity, our cooperative relationship will be even more massive,” he said.
Closing his remarks, Prof. Salengke stated that to ensure that the graduates from the Faculty of Agriculture were relevant to the workforce needed in the business and industrial sectors, 20 credits were prepared in the study program during college for students to choose their preferred elective courses.
On the same occasion, Prof. dr. Muh. Nasrum Massi, Ph.D., Sp.MK as the chancellor’s representative in his remarks considered that establishing closer relations with partners must be carried out. Prof. Nasrum focuses on active students and fresh graduate agricultural alumni to do internships so that they can provide real experience for them.
“In the past, if they graduate from university and then apply for work, they have to adapt first. They have to be included in workshop training and that costs money, but with a program like this, it is hoped that students will be able to immediately enter the world of work,” he explained before officially opening the event.
The second day of the activity was continued with a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which provided an opportunity for each study program representative to explain what they expected from partners and vice versa. The discussion ended with the signing of an MoU between the partners and the Faculty of Agriculture.
