The Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University, was established on August 17, 1962, to coincide with the 17th anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Indonesia 60 years ago. On that occasion, the Faculty of Agriculture as part of the core committee of the 66th Unhas Anniversary held various activities such as cutting tumpeng and special competitions for Independence Day, Wednesday (17/8/2022).

The activity took place at the GOR JK Auditorium at around 9.30 after the Raising Ceremony of Indonesian national flag was held directly by the Chancellor of Unhas, Prof. Dr. Jamaluddin Jompa, M.Si.

Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Unhas, Prof. Dr. Ir. Salengke, M.Sc gave a warm welcome regarding the trust given to the Faculty of Agriculture in carrying out various programs towards the 66th Unhas Anniversary which will be held one month ahead. In his remarks, Prof. Salengke mentioned various interesting competitions that will be held, ranging from marbles racing, sack races, bicycle competitions, to cooking competitions that will be carried out by representatives of each faculty.

“Then we will cut the tumpeng as a celebration of the anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture because the Faculty of Agriculture was founded on August 17, 1962,” said Prof. Salengke further. He also hopes that the Faculty of Agriculture can contribute more in advancing Hasanuddin University in the future.

Prof. Jamaluddin in his speech gave his appreciation to various parties who took the time to attend and be directly involved in the continuity of the event, in particular to the Faculty of Agriculture and Nursing. He hopes that the Unhas Anniversary which will be held can be remembered for a long time.

On the same occasion, Prof. Jamaluddin considered that this activity could strengthen the relationship between Unhas residents, “we want our series of Dies Natalis activities to be intertwined, meaning that we can feel the presence of Unhas in our hearts.” 

The highlight of the event began with the cutting of the tumpeng by the Chancellor of Hasanuddin University and continued with special competitions as part of the euphoria of Independence Day.
