FAPERTA – Faculty of Agriculture, Hasanuddin University (Unhas), Makassar, South Sulawesi, held an International Conference entitled “The 2nd International Conference on Food Security and Sustainable Agricultural in the Tropics (IC-FSSAT) 2019”, which took place at the Swiss Bel Hotel, Jalan Ujung Pandang, Makassar, Monday 2 September 2019.
Unhas Rector, Prof. Dwia Aries Tina Pulubuhu, in his speech hoped that this activity would be a step to improve sustainable agricultural practices in order to achieve food security and climate change crisis in tropical regions.
“Of course it is our common hope that this conference will produce something useful for food security and tackling climate change, especially in tropical climates,” said Dwia.
Dwia believes that those attending this conference will contribute both ideas and ideas that can be used as a reference to do something positive and of course beneficial, especially food security and sustainable agriculture.
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture Unhas, Prof. Baharuddin, explained that this conference was a form of support from the Faculty of Agriculture to Unhas towards a World Class University (WCU) and as a medium for downstreaming the results of research that had been carried out.
“This activity is one of the research outputs and studies from lecturers and experts at the Faculty of Agriculture by presenting several stakeholders from several countries,” said Prof. Baharuddin.
Prof. Baharuddin hopes that there will be an exchange of knowledge, as well as new ideas and ideas that can be used. Basically we are conducting this conference, the end goal is how research results at the Faculty of Agriculture can be conveyed to the public.
This activity presented two Keynote Speakers, namely Dr. Ir. Kasdi Subagyono, M.Sc. (Director General of Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia representing the Minister of Agriculture), and Mr Guo – Jhong Moh (Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund)
